These are resources for disabled folks that are require by or a part of the state and federal governments in the United States of America.
National Council on Disabilities
The National Council on Disabilities is a federal agency that is dedicated to furthering disability law and resources.
Rehabilitation Act of 1973
The Rehab Act is a federal law that prohibits any discrimination against disability in anything conducted by federal angencies.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A)
IDEA is the federal law that assures that young disabled folks have equal access to free and appropriate education.
Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (O.V.R)
OVRs help with getting disabled folks opportunities to further their education or career. Availability of their services varies by state.
Department of Human Services
There are state and national level departments of human services that are dedicated to improving the lives of citizens.
State Resources
State government mandated resources differ across all 50 states in the US. It is best to look into what is offered to who based on where you are located.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (W.C.A.G 2)
WCAG are federal implemented guidelines that websites associated with the federal government have to adhere to.
Medicaid
Medicaid is an insurance program for those with lower income that is supported by both the federal and state governments.
Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A)
The ADA is a federal law which protects disabled folks, including in the workplace. This covers discrimination, fair pay, disclosing disabilities and more.
National Council on Disability (N.C.D)
The NCD is the federal government's council on disability for government branches. They do not provide direct services to disabled people, but have a collection of various resources.
Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice
The civil rights department of the U.S. Department of Justice is dedicated to the improvement of life for disabled people through the creation and up-keep of federal laws.
